How to overcome the fear of death

Overcoming the fear of death is one of the most common fears out there. When you face the fear of death, you can really live and enjoy life.

You should not be afraid of death it is a natural thing. You cannot be frightened of the unknown because you do not know what the unknown is and so there is nothing to be afraid of. It is the word death, and the images that create fear.

In a way it is your thoughts, which breed the fear of death, by saying things like, let’s postpone it, let’s avoid it, keep it as far away as possible, let’s not think about it but the true is you do think about it. When you say, I will not think about it you have already thought out how to avoid it. You are frightened of death because you have postpones it.

You have to separate living from dying, and the interval between the living and the dying is fear. That interval, that time, is created by fear. Living in your daily torture, daily insult, sorrow and confusion, with occasional opening of a window over enchanted seas.

You would rather cling to the know than face the unknown, the know being your home, your furniture, your family, your character, your work and your knowledge that little thing that moves around incessantly within itself with its own limited pattern of embittered existence.

Death is simply the end of physical life. You were not aware of your absence life and you are likely to be aware of your death. Death is something that you should simply accept as it is part of the cycle of life.

Death is the journey into the unknown. Death means the end of your physical body, to some this feels like the end of life. However, in spiritual terms you are not the body but the spirit. If you can identify with your inner self then you will lose your fear of death. Death becomes instead merely a process of transition from one stage of life to the next.

In the Buddhist and Hindu traditions, reincarnation is a widespread belief and is an integral part of their philosophy. The idea of reincarnation is that the human soul needs to experience many different experiences before it is able to achieve liberation from the cycle of birth and death.

Reincarnation enables the human soul to gain experiences, through which it can make spiritual progress.

Nothing on earth is permanent. The only certainties in life are that all creatures must die and pass away. Death is as natural as birth, why should you fear that which is perfectly natural and inevitable. That which gives you life also takes life away. So death only means the extinction of the body. The soul merely passes from one body to another. For the soul life is immortal, death has no meaning.
