What is self-confidence?
A capable body and mind will not function to its greatest potential if not backed by self-confidence. Low self-confidence can impair the functioning of both the body and mind resulting in failure. Self-confidence gives you the ability to march right ahead, so you can achieve a better life.
Self-confidence has a way of being visible. You can tell this by observing the manner of others around you, it shows in the way they walk, communicate, work, and socialize, it is in the way they act. These signs show whether you are confident or not. If you were to shake hands with a person you do not know, you will be able to tell the level of confidence they have by the hand shake.
A self-confident person stands out, whereas, a person who has drooping shoulders, a long face and undecided steps show all the characteristic of an unconfident person. The very presence of a self-confident person tends to charge up the air around them. Everything automatically falls into place for them because of the confidence they show.
Which one are you?
The things you do are seldom achieved without necessary confidence. All your skills and efforts are useless if you lack self confidence. Low confidence halts your steps and you cannot take the initiative. Low self-confidence paralyzes both your body and mind at the time of decision making.
It leaves you undecided and success seldom comes to you if you are someone that is undecided. As the old saying goes, “You must stand for something or you will fall for anything”. It is quite simple, it is your confidence holds you together or breaks you apart. It is very much in your hands whether you develop a self-confident behavior.
Having self-confidence will and does bring out the fighter in you. It is said that one has to take risks to achieve in life. So what is it that enables you to go forward and take risks while others are held back? Yes, you have got it. It is the level of confidence that you have that enables you to lead from the front. It is the belief in yourself that differentiates achievement from failure. For example, why does the old bald guy win the woman, over the handsome guy? Yes, you guessed it; this is because he has the self-confidence that makes the woman feel wanted and special.
Confidence is behind scores of successfully people who have broken the shackles of a well paying job to pursue their dream. So what has turned these ordinary people who were in a nine to five job into successful people? Some of it is the belief in their dream, but most importantly, it is the self-confidence they have in themselves to achieve.
In today’s world of competition, confidence is not just an asset. It forms the very bases of your survival. Getting a job means you showed the confidence in the interview. Getting that raise showed you have the confidence to do your job well and can achieve. The confident ones are the ones who get attention. Attention brings acceptance and with acceptance comes peace and energy this in turn makes you efficient. Efficiency makes you an achiever and achievement makes your confidence grown.
When you are confident, can happiness and riches follow? Yes, as long as you do not come out of the magical spiral. You have to believe in yourself, get going, tell yourself that you have it in you to achieve. Ultimately, the one that wins is the one who thinks they can.
So how do you build your self-confidences?
Learn to accept yourself: The very first step is to accept who you are. Nobody in the world is perfect, so why bother wasting time going over your imperfections. You may have something that someone else may lack and someone else might be endowed with the qualities which you lack.
The incompleteness will make you go out and seek others who make you feel wanted and complete. Oh what a great feeling! Would you experience this feeling if you were inside the cocoon of your own perfection? Never! So accept yourself the way you are. It will free your mind of heavy baggage and unnecessary worries. This will instantly make you feel happy and positive giving you the ability to achieve.
Liberate yourself: Go out and do what you like: How long has it been since you went out and done something you want to do? How long has it been since you sat and talked to a friend about your dreams and feelings? These may be simple things; however, they have the power to help you build great confidence and fulfilment.
The conversation you have with your mind should stay clear and the best way to do it is find time to do what you enjoy. When you enjoy doing an activity, it straightway shows you have all the intelligence necessary to do the job effortlessly even though you may not realize it.
Flock together: “Birds of a feather flock together”. You must mix with others whom you enjoy being with. They are people that are on your frequency and the energy between you will flow. Life becomes easy when you are amongst people who have the same thoughts as you and it will be easier for you to relate to them. They will understand you and vice versa, this helps you to have a healthy conversation. A good conversation helps build your confidence. Everyone wants their ideas to be heard and appreciated; having good company provides you with the platform to do just that.
Go for it: The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single small step. The idea here is to begin with one small single step that you can develop into larger steps. Learn to do the work at hand rather than overwhelming yourself by looking at the entire task.
The only way to do something is to go for it! No matter how small the progress is, the focus should be on completing the task successfully. A series of uncompleted tasks are a sure fired way of you giving up. Break a big task into a list of small tasks, so you can complete them easier. Tick off each task as you successfully complete it. A completed task no matter how small gives you a sense of achievement and that achievement will and does boost your self-confidence. This will then equip you with energy to move on and change your life with self-confidence, self-belief, self growth, and self-improvement.
